Each era has its own style, character and expression. So it is my concern with this series "Baroque Editions" to give suggestions for playing with vibrato and to give impulses for playing with different possibilities of vibrato. Another special feature of Baroque music is the "bell stroke".
Georg Philipp Telemann (1681 - 1767)
was a German composer and musician of the Baroque era.
He was an extremely productive composer and is considered one of the most important representatives of German Baroque music. Telemann composed a wide variety of works, including orchestral and chamber music, operas, church music and more than 1000 works in total. His "Tafelmusik" and the "Wassermusik" are particularly well-known.
Telemann spent a large part of his life in Hamburg, where he worked as a cantor and music director.
Ulrich Lau
was born in Bergen on the island of Rügen and studied at the Cologne University of Music. After his first engagement at the Hanover State Theatre, he joined the Württemberg State Orchestra in 1967 as solo bassist. In 1973 he moved to the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 1967 he had already taken on a lectureship at the Stuttgart University of Music, where he has been a full-time professor since 1980. From 1971-75 he was a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra, and since 1973 he has played in the orchestra of the Ludwigsburg Festival. As a soloist, he has given numerous recitals. In addition, he has performed with his double bass quartet and the double bass ensemble. Many of his students play in orchestras, hold a double bass professorship, and work as soloists or teachers.
