Description:
Sonata in E minor, Op. 1, No. 2 was originally composed for cello and continuo in the early 18th century (published c. 1712-1714) by Benedetto Marcello (1686-1739), the Venetian nobleman, composer, and writer whose music bridged the late Baroque with the emerging galant style. Part of his Opus 1 collection of instrumental sonatas, the work is influenced by the Italian sonata tradition cultivated by composers such as Corelli. The Sonata in E minor, Op. 1, No. 2 remains a respected work within the Baroque chamber repertoire. This edition for Viola and Piano was completed by Gaston Marchet. Reprint edition.
