Description:
Der Prager Pianist und Komponist Julius Schulhoff, Urgroßonkel von Erwin Schulhoff, wurde - wie Jean-Henri Ravina - als Wunderkind bei einem Auftritt in jungen Jahren entdeckt. Seine Ausbildung erhielt er in der Heimatstadt, lernte dabei auch die Werke von Frédéric Chopin kennen, die er erstmals in Prag aufführte. Den polnischen Meister selbst traf Schulhoff später in Paris auf einer seiner zahlreichen Konzertreisen quer durch Europa. Aus gesundheitlichen Gründen verlegte er sich in späteren Jahren auf das Unterrichten, zunächst in Dresden, dann in Berlin. In seinem kompositorischen Schaffen bedachte er ausschließlich das Klavier, insbesondere mit Musik aus dem Bereich der Salonmusik. Dazu zählt auch das Stück Confidence op. 8/1, das wiederum Ernst W. Ritter für Violine und Klavier bearbeitet hat - ein hübsches und gefälliges 'Schmankerl'. Vorlage Stichnummer 02397, als StNr. 24963 erstmals 1890 veröffentlicht.
