Description:
The present publication contains one of the six works of the Op. 1 fifteen solo sonatas with continuo accompaniment by Handel which are known today as violin sonatas.
This edition is based on contemporary sources and modern critical editions. Its objective is to provide performers with an authentic Urtext edition offering practical solutions for performing the work. For this reason, the continuo has been realized in the full score. The violin part includes expression marks (fingering and bowing) as well as suggestions for ornamentation. To facilitate an authentic performance in which the bass is strengthened by melody-playing instruments (cello or viola da gamba), a cello part has also been added. The sonatas are available in separate editions (Z. 20133-20138).
