Description:
6 Marce per la Cavalleria (ZWV 212), composed by Jan Dismas Zelenka, an important figure in Czech Baroque music, demonstrates his fine sense of rhythm and harmonic color. These marches convey a military and festive energy and at the same time emphasize Zelenka's contrapuntal skills. Each composition unfolds its own dynamic, alternating between solemn gravity and lively movement, creating impressive contrasts. The work demonstrates the composer's ability to create short forms with dramatic intensity and clear expressiveness. Rich thematic motifs and dialogs, typical of Zelenka's unmistakable style, run through the entire series. These marches offer a fascinating insight into Baroque artistry applied to rhythmic, ceremonial forms, combining fascination with sophistication.
