Description:
This transcription of Dietrich Buxtehude's chorale prelude '0 Come, Holy Ghost' is a beautiful selection of music by a great Baroque composer. He is most widely known for his settings of older liturgical song texts to more absolute music suitable for sacred occasions or for recitals utilizing the church as a concert hall.
In modern times the performer may choose to program this work on recitals or to fill a program of sacred music in a church or similar venue. It is quite acceptable as contest material with piano.
It is suggested by the writer that the piccolo B-flat trumpet be employed and an organ with full pedal board used as the accompanying instrument. However, it is also suitable for the younger player on the B-flat cornet or trumpet.
