As a 'consequence' of winning the 1998 Colonial Euphonium/Tuba Institute Quartet Competition, the ensemble 'Sotto Voce' was invited to perform a concert at the 16th Annual U.S. Army Tuba/Euphonium Conference. Consequences, intended as a brilliant program opener, was written less than a week before the performance. With its booming introduction and rhythmic interactions, the piece is daring for the ensemble, as well as for the individual musicians, from beginning to end.
