At the heart of Cantata 24 is a powerful and magnificent choral movement based on the Bible text "All things therefore, whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them", symmetrically framed by two arias and two recitatives. The final chorale O Gott, du frommer Gott is also particularly richly ornamented with obbligato instrumental parts and line interludes. It is still unclear today what the part marked Clarino means (natural trumpet, slide trumpet, natural horn?). The performance on valve instruments, on the other hand, is relatively unproblematic; the Bb trumpet is the most likely candidate here.
