Description:
After "Hippolyte et Aricie" and "Castor et Pollux", "Dardanus" is Rameau's third tragédie lyrique for Paris. With its multifaceted music, it is an absolute highlight of this genre.
The new critical edition by Denis Herlin offers for the first time the possibility of restoring the version from May 1744. At the same time, its appendices give performers the complete material to play the version of April 1744, many parts of which have not been heard since. Last but not least, the changes from the successful 1760 revival are included. In addition to the edition of the 1739 version already published in the series, all versions of this major musico-dramatic work by Rameau are now available.
