Description:
Bach's Christmas Oratorio has been published as a scholarly edition for practical use as part of the Stuttgart Bach Editions. The edition is based on Bach's autograph score and the original parts. The conducting score contains a concise Critical Report as an appendix, which provides information about the sources and their readings, discusses these in more detail where necessary and, in particular, arrives at new solutions to articulation issues which differ from previous editions. The representative clothbound volume is supplemented by a reduced version as a study score as well as a choral score, piano reduction (one version with German and English vocal text, one version exclusively in German), piano reduction XL in German and orchestral parts. In the orchestral material, the coordination of Sprechgesang and instrumental accompaniment in the recitatives is facilitated by a superimposed vocal system; in the parts that pause during the secco recitatives, the connection of the following movement is ensured in each case by reproducing the end of the recitative in cue notes.
Separate piano reduction (also piano reduction XL) available in German. This work is also available in carus music, the choir app!
