Description:
The new scholarly-critical edition of the String Quartet op. 127, the first of Beethoven's late quartets, follows the Urtext editions of the quartets op. 18, 59, 74 and 95 already published by Bärenreiter.
The editor is once again the outstanding Beethoven scholar Jonathan Del Mar. All surviving sources have been consulted, including sketches that confirm the accuracy of various readings of the autograph. Del Mar not only restores Beethoven's original bar setting, phrasing, articulation and length of the crescendo forks, but also corrects musical errors that have become commonplace over a long period of time and adds missing notes.
