This edition is a revised edition of the St. Mark Passion of 1723, published in 1964 by Diethard Hellmann and reconstructed according to parody models, with a new preface by Andreas Glöckner on the current state of research. The edition now contains all 16 chorales included in the surviving libretto. The new edition serves both musical practice and the study of the history of the Passion's transmission.
