The love poems in the Codex Buranus are extraordinarily diverse. In contrast to courtly minned poetry, physical pleasure is in the foreground here and is named very specifically. Text 87 reads: "Love is sweeter than honey, it becomes more bitter than bile; love is blind, knows no shame. It is foolhardy and fearful, it is faithful but also unfaithful." However, unrequited love, secret love or love that has ended must also be taken into consideration. Everything is upsetting and can drive you almost mad, as is also articulated in this song. At the end of the disappointment, Cupid, whom we had previously longed for so much, is described as shameful. Love can also be as cold as ice.
