Summer is over, the fields have faded. The fall harvest is in, and winter is inexorably approaching. Once again, the cold is upon us. The warm days will disappear into exile. In "In exilium" (Text No. 69 Codex Buranus), there is a classic entrance to winter that poetically names all these things. This text also contains an "eternal truth" (Veritas aeterna) as a consolation: no cold power is able to weaken love! A reminder of the beautiful days resounds. Summer is bid a peaceful farewell, trusting that spring and summer will return next year and that the river and streams will be freed from the ice.

The movement at the beginning of Act 4 of "Perpetuum mobile" begins with a broadly swinging melody reminiscent of monks' chants from the Notre Dame era. The choral song progresses elegantly in calm time.
