The composer Peter Schindler on this single edition from "Perpetuum mobile":
A calm, relaxed Andante espressivo stands at the beginning of act 3 of "Perpetuum mobile" based on texts from the Codex Buranus. The first piece, "Cedit hiems tua duritities" (Winter gives way to your hardness) is a metrical strophic song with a striking peculiarity: it is rhymed throughout with the final syllable -ies.
In terms of content, the movement on text 135 from the Codex Buranus is about the eagerly awaited arrival of the warmer season. Associated with this is the hope of a love that God Cupid will personally bestow upon you. In order to be inflamed by love, one would even be prepared to make a sacrifice! We all know the word spring fever. Spring, that's it! It must have been a tremendous upsurge of emotion to which the balmy air, the fresh grass, the overwhelming birdsong inspired people after a hard winter. A perfect song for a spring program.
