The text "Iste mundus" (text no. 24 in the Codex Buranus) articulates a lament about the falseness and transience of human society. The lines describe that the world is in a chaotic state and in intense turmoil. It is a topical commentary on the turbulent events or the general state of the world. But, one wonders, what century does the text actually refer to?
"The world out of joint" is a phrase that has been quoted throughout the centuries. The phrase has been world-famous since Shakespeare had his Hamlet say: "The time is out of joint". Once again, the astonishing timelessness of this magnificent manuscript becomes apparent. An allegro risoluto with a grooving beat transports this text, which repeatedly strives towards the refrain "Fugiamus" (Let us flee).
